2024 Furniture Color Trend

Burnt Orange

As a SoCal-based interior designer, I'm head over heels in love with the burnt orange furniture trend! We find that it's a color that brings warmth and happiness to any room, making it a perfect fit for families with littles and pets. We like to pitch this color by different names, like "sienna" or "terracotta", depending on the client's style and vision.

In San Diego, where modern Mediterranean architecture is very common, burnt orange is a color that blends seamlessly with the Spanish terracotta tile and helps us achieve that beachy sun-kissed look we are known for. We recently used it on a large velvet sectional in a client's playroom because the color is so practical and forgiving, yet still manages to look elevated.

Complimentary Colors

When it comes to pairing burnt orange with other design elements, we love to mix it with cool industrial finishes like concrete floors or plaster fireplaces. The warmth of the color helps balance out the coolness of the concrete finish, while a jute rug provides a softer natural touch that keeps the overall look relaxed and coastal. It's also a color that doesn't read too masculine or too feminine, so it's neutral and looks great in a living room.

We're currently pitching this same color scheme to a client in Rancho Santa Fe because it's a soothing and elevated palette that works so well with the local architecture. I think this is a trend that's going to stay for a while because it's so versatile and can be applied in formal or casual living spaces. We're here for it!
